The PROMISCES project identifies how industrial pollution prevents the development of a circular economy in the EU and detect strategies to overcome these bottlenecks. The project delivers data on persistent, mobile (PM) substances in complex environmental matrices and investigates sources of PM substances released from soil, sediments, landfills and wastewater treatment plants and via urban runoff into relevant natural systems. PROMISCES also develops a tool chemical exposure assessment in multiple circular economy exposure routes, including wastewater reuse for agricultural irrigation, to improve management of human health risks. Dr. Zhiteneva was involved in the proposal writing, project management, and development of the chemical exposure assessment model.
